[MOVIE REVIEW] Split (SPOILER ALERT)

On Thursday, me and my friend watch "SPLIT". Ever since the trailer came out, I got so curious about this movie because well, it's a movie starring James McAvoy. And after I watch the movie, I'm not disappointed. So... here's the movie review!

THE STORY LINE

*WARNING SPOILER ALERT*

The story was actually pretty simple. Kevin has 23 personalities in his body and the 24th is about to come out, and the 24th turns out to be "the beast" because he's super strong and he eats human's flesh. So, because of that Dennis (one of Kevin's personality) decided to kidnap 3 high school girls to feed them to the beast because Dennis, Patricia, and Hedwig believe that the beast will finally come out.

The other 20 personalities tried to warn Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley) by sending an e-mail (via Barry's (still one of Kevin's personality) e-mail). The e-mail always contains the same thing like "We need you. Urgent." and something like that. Eventually, Dr. Fletcher realize something was wrong and she tried to talk to Dennis because apparently, Dennis been acting as Barry every time he comes to the appointment.

And the girls desperately tried to run away from the basement, the two of three did something pretty stupid to get out and it makes them separated in the end. Casey (Anya Taylor Joy) being the main character she was, analyze the situation before trying to get out. She tried to deceived Hedwig by being his friend and gained his trust, but in the end she failed.

One night, Dr. Fletcher received 20 e-mails from Barry telling her that they need her, and because of that she comes to Kevin's house (at the end of the movie it was revealed that his house was actually in a zoo's basement), later she found Claire (Haley Lu Richardson) was being kept in a room almost naked and I believe she thought Dennis kidnap her because Dennis of his interest in seeing naked young girls dancing when actually it was more than that. After gaining consciousness, she left a note on how to tame those personalities and it was by simply saying his real name (Kevin Wendell Crumb), and Casey found the note later.

After calling Kevin's name, Kevin told Casey that he hid a shotgun in the drawer behind her and the bullet is in his locker and he told Casey to kill him. When he become the beast he can't be killed because he is actually bulletproof and he didn't kill Casey in the end because Casey is somehow "pure" because he saw that Casey has several scars in her body. And I think her uncle left her that scars because he is actually a pervert and he has to take care of Casey because her father died when she was a child. Oh, and the reason why Casey can use the shotgun because her father taught that. And in the end of the movie, Kevin died...

I find the story really simple but frightening and the story was not disappointing at all even though the ending was a bit meh for me because... why did he suddenly gave up on killing Casey just because she was "pure" and why did he has to die.. but overall, the story was amazing, the acting was also amazing, the plot-twist was awesome, and the cinematography was also awesome. Sadly, we didn't get to meet all 23 personalities throughout the movie.


THE CHARACTERS

James MvAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb/Barry/Dennis/Patricia/Hedwig/Jade/many more

 HE.WAS.AMAZING! Really. He was amazing in this movie. The way he portrayed all of the characters he plays was amazing, no words can describe how amazing he is. James McAvoy is undeniably a great actor! He portrayed Dennis the cold guy, Patricia the kind but creepy lady, Hedwig the cute and innocent little boy, Barry the flamboyant designer, and the strong beast really well. And when he changed personalities in one shot was so amazing! If he didn't win or at least nominated for an award for his acting in this movie, I'm gonna be so mad.

p.s. can I say that James McAvoy is the one that save this movie? If he's not the one playing Kevin, I don't think this movie will do great.

And here's my favorite!

Anya Talyor-Joy as Casey Cooke

She's the weird girl that got kidnapped because of one simple mistake. She comes to Claire's birthday party and her uncle cannot pick her up, so she joins Claire and Marcia and was meant to be sent home by Claire's father. I cannot tell if she's doing great or not because I haven't seen any of her movies beside this, but I think she is okay because she's not that annoying kind of girl in this movie and in the end of the movies I guess she did pretty well. And i really love her hair and BODY GOALS.

Betty Buckley as Dr. Karen Fletcher

She can be the hero in this movie but sadly she's not because she died... Well, actually she is kinda being a hero for leaving a note on how to tame the personalities. She's doing good in this movie. Well, I cannot say much because it's also my first time seeing her ._.

Haley Lu Richardson as Claire Benoit

I cannot find a good pic of her from the movie.

She's the birthday girl and on her birthday she got kidnapped. She's not actually the typical stupid blonde chick in the movie, it's just she got caught while running away, but her way of trying to escaped is not stupid, it's pretty smart actually, but she got caught and eventually died in the end. She's doing okay for me, the only thing that annoys me is her breathing sound, it's so loud LOL

Jessica Sula as Marcia

Again, I cannot find a good pic of her from the movie

She's the stupid one for me LOL she tried to escaped by hitting Patricia while she was preparing another sandwich for her and Casey, well obviously she got caught. Throughout the end of the movie we can see that she actually tried to open the lock with a hanger and she almost did it! But I guess she got caught because she died... Her acting was okay for me...
